When you cook the tuar/toor dal, remove the water from the dal after boiling it and set aside for making this pepper rasam recipe in andhra style. But if you don't have the dal water, it's perfectly fine. Take a vessel and put the tamarind pulp.
Instructions to make Pepper Water (Miriyala Chaaru Rasam):
- Soak tamarind in warm water, in a cup, for 15 minutes
- Grind cumin, pepper and garlic to a paste
- In a stock pot, fry mustard seeds, curry leaves and onion in oil
- Extract tamarind juice and add to the pot
- Add tomato and coriander. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes till the tomatoes are cooked
- Add the spice paste, salt and turmeric powder. Simmer for 5 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
- Add water, to required consistency, and bring to boil
- Serve hot with boiled rice
Add pepper powder into the rasam. Heat oil in a small pan and add the mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds starts to splutter, add the dry red chillies and curry leaves and fry them. Pour this seasoning over the Pepper Rasam. Garnish Pepper Rasam with. in a bowl take tamarind pulp .
