The ingredients needed to make Fried Tofu Salad:
  1. Make ready 200 g Firm Tofu
  2. Make ready Salt
  3. Make ready Oil for cooking
  4. Take 3-4 cupfuls Vegetables of your choice
  5. Prepare Note: Today I used Daikon, Carrot, Celery, Cucumber and Curly Endive
  6. Get 1 tablespoon Toasted Sesame Seeds
  7. Prepare 1/2 sheet Toasted Nori *torn into small pieces
  8. Prepare *Note: Instead of Nori, Fried Shallots is another nice topping
  9. Get Dressing
  10. Take 1 tablespoon Soy Sauce
  11. Get 1 tablespoon Rice Vinegar
  12. Get 1 teaspoon Sugar
  13. Make ready 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil
  14. Get 1/2 teaspoon grated Garlic

The pan-fried version was introduced in my dubu jorim (braised tofu) recipe, in which, instead of braising, I gave the option to simply drizzle the sauce over the pan-fried tofu. Heat the vegetable oil over medium heat in a large frying pan. Gently stir in the tofu and peanuts; cook until the tofu has lightly browned. Drain and slice tofu in half lengthwise to make two thinner slabs.

Instructions to make Fried Tofu Salad:
  1. Cut Firm Tofu to 1cm thin slices. Lightly season with Salt.
  2. Heat a generous amount Oil in a frying pan over medium low heat, cook Tofu slices until golden and crispy. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towel and allow to cool.
  3. Cut all Vegetables into thin strips or slices, and place in a mixing bowl. Cut the fried Tofu slices into thin strips and add to the bowl. Add Sesame Seeds as well.
  4. Combine all the dressing ingredients in a small bowl. *Note: You may wish to add some Chilli.
  5. Pour the dressing over the salad, mix to combine, transfer to a serving plate. Add Toasted Nori on top and serve immediately.

Preheat non-stick skillet over medium heat and spray with non-stick spray. Take the tofu out of the marinade sauce and fry it until golden brown. Add the teaspoon of cornstarch to the leftover marinade sauce and then pour it over the fried tofu and fry until thickened. Add chopped romaine lettuce to a salad bowl followed by sliced. Wrap tofu in a clean towel and place onto a plate.
